Our Story

All That Dance began in 1999, when Darcy Leavitt took over the Buxton studio space from her friend Sandra Pond, who had previously run All That Jazz. What started in the cozy downstairs of the Masonic Lodge quickly grew to fill the upstairs as the dance family expanded. Darcy poured her heart into the studio — teaching most of the classes herself, with her daughter Chelsea soon stepping in to help teach and handle the office work.

During Darcy’s years, the studio was filled with unforgettable experiences — performing at Disney World, dancing in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, taking the stage on the Wildwood Boardwalk in New Jersey, competing in Hershey Park, and even traveling to Las Vegas for workshops and performances. The dancers also gave back to the community through events like the Apple Festival and the Settlers Green grand opening.

In 2019, Darcy passed the studio to one of her alumni, Sara Wear, who officially took over during the challenges of COVID-19. Even through shutdowns, Sara kept the spirit of dance alive with remote classes and a special outdoor recital, keeping dancers connected and inspired. Since then, All That Dance has continued to grow — performing at Maine Celtics and Sea Dogs games, joining MSAD 6 parades, and returning to Dance the Magic at Disney World.

Today, nestled beside the beautiful Saco River in Buxton, All That Dance remains a family-centered, community-focused studio where any gender and any body is welcome. We continue to celebrate movement, creativity, and friendship — the heart of what Darcy began and what Sara proudly carries forward.
